insurance eligibility verification services
Insurance eligibility before the visit
A claim cannot fix coverage that ended last month. We check eligibility before the visit so the front desk can tell the patient what to expect.
What gets checked
Whether the plan is active on the date of service, which payer is primary, and the copay or deductible the plan returns. When a clearinghouse connection is in place, MedFlow sends the electronic inquiry and stores the answer on the appointment. When it is not, the worklist still tells the front desk who has not been checked.
We do not guess. An inactive member ID is an inactive member ID. The patient is asked for a current card before the visit is billed.
Why it matters in a small office
One person is answering the phone and rooming patients. Eligibility that waits until the end of the day becomes a write-off. Checking the schedule the morning before, or when the appointment is booked, is the whole habit.
Practices in smaller towns often see the same families for years. Coverage still changes: a spouse’s job, a Medicare Advantage plan, a Medicaid renewal. We check the plan, not our memory of it.
